anode – The electrode that attracts or gathers in electrons.
branch – A circuit portion containing a single element.
cathode – The electrode that gives off or emits electrons.
loop – A closed path containing no node more than once.
node – A point or connection where two or more circuit elements meet, represented pictorially by a dot. (picture)
parallel – When two elements connect at a single node pair, they are said to be in parallel; electrical components arranged in a sidestepped fashion. (picture); parallel also has a different meaning here
series – Electrical components arranged in a linear fashion. (picture)
single node pair – Two nodes separated by no other nodes. (picture)
terminal – The mechanical device by means of which an electric connection to an apparatus is established. The point of current entry to, or point of current departure from any conducting component in an electric circuit. A terminal is a simple type of electrical connector that connects two or more wires to a single connection point.
